Grooming Dogs at Home
Coat type changes the routine. A German Shepherd and a pug do not share the same brush plan.
Brushing
Brush before baths so mats do not tighten. Stop if the skin is red or painful.
Nails
Trim only the tip if you can see the quick. If you cannot, use a groomer.
Bathing
Most dogs do not need weekly soap. Rinse well. Keep water out of ears.
Tools
See Grooming for brushes currently sold.
Medical skin
Hair loss, sores, or intense itching need a veterinarian. Shampoo is not a diagnosis.
