Where dry food fits

Dry food is the most economical way to feed, keeps for weeks unopened, and can be left in a bowl without spoiling for a few hours — which suits households where nobody is home midday. It is also the format that supports puzzle feeders and slow bowls.

Bag size and freshness

A larger bag lowers the cost per kilogram, but kibble begins to stale and lose fat quality once air reaches it. Buy the size you will finish in about four to six weeks, and store the open bag inside a sealed airtight container — in Dhaka's humidity, an unsealed bag can go soft and musty well before it is finished.

Water alongside

Because dry food holds very little moisture, cats fed kibble alone drink noticeably more. Keep a clean bowl of water away from the food bowl — many cats dislike drinking right next to where they eat — and change it daily.
